Keh dalun ki sambhal kar chalna
Yun na karna, yeh na kehna
In galtiyon se zara bach ke rehna

Par na jaane kyun aisa lagaa
Ik ik-tarfaa ainaa ho hamare beech
Zaahir tha woh meri nazron mien
Magar posheeda tha main uske liye

Na-ummeed sa laut raha tha ke
Ik muskaan dekhi uske chehrey pe
Kaagaz par kuch likha usne
Aur hawa ke hawaley kar diya

Aaj subah ik jhaunke pe udtaa
Aan pahuncha ik khat phata sa
Dhundley se akshron mein us par
Saaf likha tha ik paigaam chota sa

Mehfooz hai parinda pinjarey mein
Kya aakash ko chu payega magar
Galatiyon se gar main bachta rahun
Kis buniyaad par basaoge kamyabion ka nagar

Days 1 through 7

Completed the Parineeta Project. Was listening to "Raat hamari to..." in replay mode, when inspiration struck. Major difference though - the song is about separation, this piece is about enjoying solitude while being together. For the background paper - I took a regular sheet of printer paper, brewed some tea, and sponged the black tea onto the paper. Used an iron to smooth the sheet, and voila - antique look.

Started two projects today. One inspired by a song from Parineeta, other by a Matisse painting. Will post pics soon.

Who art thou?

Well, any type of art actually - no art religion here. Draw, paint, take pictures, photoshop, comics, poetry, yes poetry, anything. I have had a passion for art for as long as I can remember. Passion to create art, to appreciate art, to experiment, and for a bit even teach visual arts at my daughter's school. One big problem though - I have these ideas that jostle in my head. But I keep them locked. Procrastination - thy name is G1. But today, I am making a resolve. A resolve to create art every day for the next 365 days. Be it a simple line if it may. An incomplete effort. An imperfect work. As long as it is created with an artistic intent, it will see the light of day. The gods of internet are my witness, I will prevail. A word on artists that I admire. Big fan of my daughter Nonie's work. I have saved most of her art from toddler years up and am imprssed by her creativity even in her early years. Other artists I like include Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, Chagall, and M.C. Escher.
